Lunch & Learn Session: Update on Legal Issues Impacting the Water Well Industry  (2 R/R CE Credits)

This presentation reviews the latest legislative, regulatory, and legal developments that impact the water well industry. Being informed of these developments enables water well contractors to better conduct their businesses to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Subject matter includes recent developments in the United States Supreme Court involving state water wars, indirect discharges through groundwater, and “waters of the United States”, as well as recent PFAS litigation across the country. These national developments directly impact Florida water well contractors. In addition, the presentation will discuss recent mandatory connection developments in Florida and across the Southeast. The continuing disputes between Florida and Georgia with respect to shared water resources, and the implications to water well contractors will also be explored.

In addition, state legislative, regulatory, and legal developments that may impact Florida operators will be discussed. Finally, developments in the Florida legislature, courts, and regulatory agencies that impact water well contractors will be examined and the actions that contractors should take will be explored.
