FGWA Dottie Mixon Roberts Member of the Year Award

The FGWA Board of Directors established the Dottie Mixon Roberts Member of the Year Award in honor of Dorothy Mixon Roberts, former FGWA member, board member and past president. 

Recipients of this award have made significant contributions to the water well profession, championed the ideals, displayed distinction and professionalism that water well licensees possess, and are viewed as a positive example in the industry. 

Nominations are now closed. Deadline was January 5, 2024.

Purpose:
An individual may be nominated for consideration for the Dottie Roberts Member of the Year Award if that individual can demonstrate the following criteria: that he/she has made a significant contribution to the groundwater profession, and that he/she has championed the ideals, distinction and professionalism that water well licensees possess, and that he/she can be held as a positive example in the industry.  - Criteria adopted by the FGWA Board of Directors January 21, 2011. Revised September 24, 2021.

Eligibility:

  1. Any FGWA member (active or life) in good standing may be nominated.

Criteria for Selection:

  1. The nominations will include written information to the Awards Committee that clearly describes the nominee’s:
    1. Demonstrated FGWA leadership roles at any level over a period of time.
    2. Commitment and dedication to advance the FGWA organization and mission.
    3. Contributions to and impact on the advancement of the water well profession.
    4. Service and impact may be either formal OR informal
    5. Demonstrated the ideals, distinction and professionalism that water well licensees possess.
    6. Displayed a positive example for the industry as a whole.

Impact may be felt by individual members or by the association as a whole through professional work, through committee work, or any other avenue.

Selection Process:

  1. The Awards Committee will seek potential candidates throughout the year.
  2. The nomination portal will open in August of each year.
    1. Completed nomination forms are due by January 5th to the FGWA Awards Committee Chair.
    2. Nominations will be reviewed by the Awards Committee.  The Awards Committees will recommend the recipient to the FGWA Board of Directors for approval.
    3. The FGWA Board of Directors will approve the nominee during the Winter Board Meeting.
    4. The Member of the Year Award may or may not be selected each year.

Recognition Process:

  1. One award may be given per year at the FGWA Annual Convention & Trade Show during the Annual Business Meeting.
  2. A glass award will be presented to the recipient.
  3. A picture with a short biographical summary about the recipient will be featured on the FGWA website.

Notification of the FGWA Member of the Year:

  1. The Awards Committee Chair will notify the Member of the Year Award recipient.
  2. Arrangement will be made by FGWA Staff for award presentation at the Annual Convention.
