Franklin Electric VFD Lab - Hands on large drive training ADVANCED (1 S/B CE Credit)
Separate registration required. Must be a full registered attendee to register. Limited seating available.
In this course, we will learn basic functions of a drive and where to land wiring. Then we will perform basic programming to operate your drive successfully. We will then learn how to wire in external components and how to program those components. We will also learn Lead/Lag/Alternation programming as well. This will be a hands-on, lab style class. Seating will be limited to 20 attendees per class. Those that are not registered, will be asked to wait outside until all registered attendees have been seated. Remaining open seats will then be first come first serve.

Understanding VFD’s — Real World Practices for Pump Systems (1 S/B CE Credit)
Presented by: Rory Penfold, Phase Technologies
This session gives contractors a clear, practical understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)—from how they work to how they impact pump system performance, motor protection, and power quality. We’ll break down complex drive technology into simple concepts, including rectification, DC bus operation, inverter output, harmonic mitigation, and the differences between standard 6-pulse and active front-end (AFE) VFDs. Attendees will learn how output filters, short-cycle protection, derating features, and current-based safeguards directly affect system longevity and reliability. The presentation emphasizes real-world troubleshooting steps, installation best practices, and how to match drive
capabilities with actual pump system needs. Designed as a contractor-focused guide, this talk cuts through marketing myths and equips the field with the tools, rules, and decision-making framework needed to ensure successful VFD applications.

Compact Sampling Solutions: Mobile Drill B-25 and Geotool Modular (1 R/R CE Credit)
(outside rig demonstration)
Presented by: Larry Orzeske, Mobile Drill, Int’l
Participants will gain practical insight into how compact drilling systems, specifically the Mobile Drill B-25 and Geotool Modular platforms, can be effectively deployed to address complex field challenges without compromising safety, performance, or data quality. The course covers critical site limitations such as ground pressure, restricted space, overhead clearance, and air circulation, along with guidance on evaluating essential machine attributes for proper rig selection and setup. Attendees will explore innovative tooling solutions, including overshots and custom-length tooling, through real-world applications and learn best practices for working safely in confined or non-ideal conditions. The session concludes with field-ready strategies to improve productivity, reduce risk, and optimize outcomes, along with a brief demonstration of B-25 and modular capabilities, including SPT testing and limited-access scenarios.

2026 State of the U.S. Water Well Industry Report & Update on Legal Issues Impacting the Industry (1 R/R CE Credit)
Presented by: Margaret Martens and and Jesse Richardson, Water Systems Council
The Water Systems Council is proud to present the 2026 State of the U.S. Water Well Industry Report, our fifth annual edition, based on survey data collected by an independent third-party entity. The insights derived from diverse industry respondents on a wide range of topics are intended to fuel strategic discussions and facilitate decision-making within well contractors and suppliers’ business.
In addition to the report, Jesse Richardson will provide an overview of recent legislative, regulatory, and legal developments affecting the water well industry, helping contractors stay informed and compliant with federal, state, and local requirements. Topics include exempt wells, “waters of the United States,” PFAS litigation, mandatory connection requirements, and interstate water disputes, including Florida–Georgia shared water resources. The session also reviews key Florida legislative, regulatory, and legal developments and outlines practical actions water well contractors should consider in response.

Drilling Fluids and Methods (2 R/R CE Credits)
Presented by: Doug Keller, Baroid IDP
This will be a two-part session. The first session will cover bentonite fundamentals, including its uses, types, and sources. The discussion will then address issues associated with improper bentonite use and explain how PAC polymers improve wall cake formation and carrying capacity. The session will conclude with an overview of PHPA polymers for clay control, their advantages, and why they are preferred over thinners. Proper bentonite mixing techniques will also be reviewed. The second session will feature hands-on table demonstrations of various drilling fluid mixes. Attendees will observe how PHPA polymers inhibit clay and how PAC polymers enhance wall cake formation. Fluid tests will be conducted to compare bentonite-based fluids with and without additives, highlighting performance differences.
